A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold vertical "A" frame with a Taeguk within its base. Issuing from opposite sides of the "A" frame device and surmounting its base, a red scroll bearing the inscription "ONE IN PURPOSE" in gold letters.
The "A" frame, a support appendage used throughout the Orient in the carrying of supplies, etc., symbolizes the basic mission of the organization. The Taeguk represents the Group's place of activation.
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 23d Direct Support Group on 24 April 1969. It was redesignated for the 23d Support Group on 187 May 1985.
